Another flight with my Corsair.  Obviously I still need work on the landings.  Next time I'll try some flaps and kick up the elevator & throttle a bit when coming in to land and try to bleed off more speed.

Oh - and while I was at the field I flew my YAK-55.  Surfing in the westerly wind.
To a little Johann Strauss music...

Well, looking like another ice storm coming in here.  Sheesh - had 2 weeks without power and in the cold in 2007.  Surely it'll not be so bad.
But here's a little flight with my basic Slow Stick trainer airplane from the other day.
Country music anyone?
George Jones is getting mighty old now - you can hear it in his voice.  But still the Possum!
Merle Haggard had part of a lung removed a while back due to lung cancer.  So he's in for a hard fight most likely, but he's still performing and going strong!
These icons of country music will not be around forever though!

(I messed up the opening - it says October 12.  It was really January 26, 2010.  Oh well, I'm the king of typos)

Here's a video of a scratch-built "foamy" R/C model of a seaplane that can actually take off and land on water. "Foamies" is the name given to the class of model planes built out of the insulation foam that can be found at home/hardware stores.
ModelAero also sells a kit version of this build.

And here's a video of flying off snow:

Thanks for the videos. My son-in-law is into building and flying different aircraft. The most challenging for him is the Helicopter. He also does the boat thing. He lost a Submarine in a local lake. Never did find it.

Check out this F-14 Tomcat one of the guys I fly with has built.  She hasn't been maidened yet but I guess is ready for a go.  It has fully functional swept wings just like the real deal.  He built it entirely from scratch - he designs all his own aircraft.  Lays it out in autocad and prints off plans.

Hee... my dad used to work on F-111's with the sweep wings... that is some job your friend did!  I'll have to show the pics to my dad, he'll get a kick out of 'em.

Well, I've been inside here 48 hours and am starting to go stir crazy.  But I got a new, nifty keychain camera from Hong Kong today.  So that gave me something to play with.

Here's a little video I did with my Blade MCX helicopter - I rigged a head-band to hold the camera.  Not bad for a $29 dollar camera delivered to my door in low light!  I found how to set the date/time, but wish I could figure out how to turn it off!

Darned good flyin' Thunker!!! Don't know about you, but it'd scare the dickens outta me if I opened the curtains at night and saw that thing hovering right outside! Ha! I'd say ya got yer money's worth on the camera though...didn't have any trouble seeing in the low light.  Say, I wonder if AirHogs makes a chopper big and strong enough to fetch a beer!grin

Nothing but snow around here for a while so I can't fly my trusty airplane "Timex" like I like - taking off from the ground and landing.
Sooo - I hacked together a "cheap man's" set of skis for landing gear.  Won't try it on Timex because that planes getting a bit heavy, but stuck it on a light stock Slow Stick airplane.
Wonder if it'll work?  You guys are the master and finding stuff around and making it work.  But that only inspires me!  I maybe should have glued and inboard piece of foam on the skis - but I figure that on take-off/landing the gear will only be trying to spread outwards.
Heck if it doesn't work I can always just pick it up and throw it in the air! HA HA!

Never done that but know an old pro that did.  Now they have those powered gliders - just power up when you need it.  Power down and the prop folds up beside the fuselage and you coast forever.
I need to investigate that sometime - sounds like fun.
There's a great book by Dave Thornburg i.e. 'Old Buzzard' about sailing and thermals and such.  A great read.

A little flight today testing a new camera.  DANG these are CHEAP!  Video from a camera the size of a normal keychain remote.  $28.88 delivered to my door including a 4Gbyte TF card.  Plug it in to your USB port and it's just another disk drive.  No drivers required.  Shoots 30FPS at 720x480 and creates .AVI files.  Pretty slick

This is the new camera shooting forward and I have my old FlyCamOne2 (about $70) shooting backwards.  The only thing I can't figure out is how to turn of the date/time stamp on the keychain cam.  It does hesitate/glitch now and then - but heck - for that price you can almost throw the camera away and keep the memory card!

Some idiot obviously took a 4-wheeler in the snow and just tore the crap out of the field - the moron.

A little oldie music with Benny Goodman.

Blowgunner62, what are you going to hunt?

If you say that it isn't a signature, you are terribly wrong (There are 42 characters remaining. I'm thinking more...)
