Happy New Year, Everybody!  Hope 2017 will be a good year for all!

For those of you who've been around the forum for a long time, I'm the blowgunner formerly known as Curare Five-Oh (actually I guess I'm also currently known as that, too...LOL).

Also known as C50, hence the "AKAC50".

Enough about me, on to the spaghetti and marshmallow darts.  Watch the video for how to make them (very simple) and the really quite surprising things they will do to targets like soda cans and gallon water jugs.

The amazingness is amplified by the fact that this is a frangible blowgun ammo and can actually make multiple entry and/or exit holes on such targets!

I hope you don't believe me at first, because that will make it all the more fun when you see what happens... hee.

By the way, Merry Late Christmas.

Well Hey C50 long time no see!! - My God that is amazing in what you have discovered there... I personaly would have never dreamt that could be accomplished with spaghetti! - Also, I kind of wonder why that one separated into three sections and all three went through the cans. - I think this is a great find, and actually good enough to put on a major show because I don't think anybody could believe this could be done.

Great job and video production as well... Amazing! -  image

Best, Bruce

Wow, I think your post was paralysed by some of that curare for a spell. I'm glad that you were able to sustain the wind in it long enough for it to finally emerge here on the forum. Sorry that the new format (software?) has been giving you fits. I might be keeping some spagetti and marshmellows in  my tool box at work to use against the vermin that keeps trying to raid my "pantry."

Neondog, I didn't realize that the post had been paralyzed... next time a post gets that way I'll feed it salt to help it get over the effects of the curare quicker (hee). I seriously think that the spaghetti and marshmallow dart could do a number on a mouse due to the fragmentation and multiple wound channels. I could be wrong though... I guess testing on a simulation medium would be in order. Anyway, a couple of spare marshmallows could be set out as bait.

Hey, thanks for the kind works, Targetzone!  It's nice to be back!  The spaghetti outperformed my expectations by a long shot on the multiple entry and exit wounds.

I definitely plan to revisit the spaghetti darts in more videos (and hopefully they will go as viral as my username***).

Here is a link to a very well-produced video on the science of breaking spaghetti.  Turns out that physicist Richard Feynman (who solved the mystery of the o-ring problem that caused the Space Shuttle Challenger to blow up, and worked on theories of quantum electrodynamics, etc.) was fascinated by some paradoxes in the way that spaghetti breaks into more pieces than you would expect when it snaps.
The video uses very high camera speeds (up to 250,000 frames per second) to explore the phenomenon of the "cascading fracture".

I think that the very high propogation speed at which the spaghetti fragments helps to explain why it's able to break into pieces that seem to keep travelling pretty much parallel and in the same original direction as they all travel through the soda can.

***Curare, that is.  So please-- hint hint-- everybody, like and subscribe at my Youtube channel if you do indeed enjoy the video).  Targetzone, if you ever decide you want to be a sponser of my channel, let me know (hee)
